Old media still has its uses

Jessica

I’m a lucky dog because of a lot of things, but mostly because of Jess. Hanging with her each day is a constant surprise and that she puts up with my nonsense is frankly a miracle. Those of you that have met me know I’m a bit of a dick at times and those that haven’t can probably guess as much. Those of you that also know Jess know that she must have the patience of a fucking saint.

She’s smarter than me, prettier than me and a hell of a lot more interesting than me. She has a masters degree in journalism, works a beat that actually matters to her and still has time to edit The F Word and do the occasional freelance piece. Not only am I incredibly proud, but also generally in awe that she fits this all in.

She also makes a kick ass mac ‘n’ cheese.

Here’s her latest piece for The Guardian (more here).

Right now she’s marching in the shitty London weather for International Women’s Day while I sit at home thinking about monster movies.

And speaking of The Guardian, my friend Christian popped up in there today. He and Phil are off doing experiments in Austin as part of SXSW (and with a little bit of luck being picked up at some point by Irina).

If Christian isn’t on your radar yet then he soon will be. The guy just has something.

QR coded McDonalds in Japan

Please excuse the meat*.

I’m co-hosting a dialogue about QR codes at the Coach & Horses tomorrow afternoon. You can read a bit more about it here - Yeah, I’m now also blogging for The Tuttle Club.

I just got outed as an “Esteemed international social media playboy” too.

Elsewhere (ie Twitter) I also found out that a simple repetition of the word fuck on Twitter can lead to a STAB TRUCK echo. Something to mine there.

Oh and the cat had a better day than I did. Thank fuck I’m in the pub tomorrow.

* Cheers to James for sending on the Japanese QR pics from his mate Joe in Japan. If you’re into your mobile trickery then have a word with James at the next Tuttle meet or better yet go along to his Mobile Geeks of London event.

Have Vlog Will Travel

Vlogging

I shot a lot of video in California.

At some point I’ll start throwing some of it up here. Don’t worry… I found lots of interesting stuff to point the cameras at that didn’t include my head.

Catching up with the Internets and stuff I missed and am kinda underwhelmed with the Indiana Jones trailer. Even the music seemed to have lost some oomph…

Shame.

Eight Random Things About Me

Posted on 2008 03, 04 by Mike

Thayer tagged me. Kinda amused these things are still doing the rounds.

OK, so 8 random things about me would be:

Blood Meridian

1. I got my first tattoo to kill time while waiting for a train. It’s rubbish.

2. I’ve only had one knife pulled on me (with the intent to do me harm anyway).

3. I’ve been filmed for Canadian TV doing stand up poetry. Ouch.

4. I was once stopped from returning home from another country and had my passport held for a week.

5. I didn’t cut my hair once in over ten years. Very Metal.

6. The first live band I saw was Youth of Today. They scared the crap out of me.

7. I have a masters degree in postmodern literature. I specialised in Paul Auster (whom I met) and Cormac McCarthy (whom I didn’t).

8. I much prefer The Monkees to The Beatles. Go watch Head (and Ringo was way cooler than that Lennon cock simply for hanging out with Frank Zappa).

Crap. Now I’ve got to nominate another eight people? I’ll go for newish friends that I’d like to get to know better then:

Whit, Langley, Francine, Dan, Melissa, Christian, Bill and Selina.

Irina tried to eat my doughy brains

So that happened…

Lagged like a motherfucker.

Back in London and planning my escape route.
