Quick heads up. I deleted my Facebook account. Not because of privacy reasons or worries over the thing being made of pure evil or even the stress of the upkeep of a small farm. No. I deleted Facebook because it’s a fucking idiot magnet*.
If the people I know on there only use Facebook to interact with the online world then I’d rather keep them contained and as far away from me as possible. Those that need a Facebook account for some other reason (I only ever signed up because it was work related) will already be online properly and I’m easy enough to find out here.
Slingers and other projects will, I’m sure, continue to use Facebook. They just won’t have any direct involvment from me.
Twitter changed the way I use the Internet and the way I work. It’s a forward facing platform and even though I believe its creators still don’t really understand what they’ve achieved it’s the best thing to happen to the place I call home in years.
Facebook is the exact opposite and turning my back on it feels right. It’s not important enough to rail against, but it certainly deserves ignoring.
* Plus there was that South Park episode where Stan was forced to poke his grandmother.

Its a really good point, I find myself only using facebook to interact with those people that refuse to use even email let alone pick up the phone.
I don’t quite have the balls to shut it off completely though, for one, I wouldn’t hear from my family unless I made the effort to call.
It does annoy me that facebook has a stranglehold on my internet existence. But it is hard to get away from now, especially as someone with friends and aquaintences all over the shop.
Would be nice to get rid of it though, i did say to someone the other day that having spotify being able to interact with twitter rather than facebook would be better because the people you have on twitter are generally numerous times more interesting than those only on facebook viz “fucking idiots”
I feel i should count my sister out of that though, she’s more non net savvy than a fucking idiot. Disclaimer over. =)
Southpark is quite funny but some of the scenes maybe a bit too morbid even for adults.:~.
well I don’t use FB that much either, it has become my myspace profile, there becos ppl aren’t on twitter and they want to see more pictures. I hardly put pictures on FB cos it is so disorganized and a mess.
