“I like to paint people in black and white because people are temporary - they will eventually leave the world and become the past. However, some buildings live longer than people; they continue to exist in the world. This is why I paint people in black and white and the background in colour. The contrast with colour is to highlight this dichotomy.”

And often not temporary enough.

Wii have her…

June 2nd, 2007

Jess finished her MA so I got her a Wii.

She seems to like it:

Home run

I figured it would give her pause before starting a PhD, although she’s now working on a piece for The Guardian. Me… Im working on some coffee.

And an Ocean’s 11 style heist to switch my neighbours with holograms.

Silent holograms.

That don’t set fireworks off of my fucking balcony.

More Brownlee goodness…

I haven’t seen too much of Corran and Arran recently because they’ve been busy:

My fellow SE1ers may recognise the location.

And even though I’ve posted this before I’m gonna throw it up it again because a) it’s awesome and b) more people will recognise Cara now that Peep Show has been on:

Demons…

No idea how effective this campaign is but I love the art:

Chestdwellers

Chestdwellers: Andrew is convinced demons inhabit his chest, haunting his every waking moment. In quiet desperation he attempts to remove them.

What’s more disturbing than the images and accompanying copy is the fact that for some people this is all very real.

Also Witches, Dogwoman, Boiling rain and Rotting.

Congestion charge work around…

Dan’s still in Japan seeing stuff like this Nissan Transformer:

Nissan Bot

I say they should immediately refocus their R&D department away from working out how to make a car as environmentally destructive as possible and get everyone on making this a reality.

Never really given a fuck about cars, but if my laptop could transform into a slender version of this and then cull people in coffee shops for me… I’d even put up with an Apple logo.

Atheism killer…

This would have been nice…

The Movie that Time Forgot

Hammer are alive again, but we don’t really have a Doug McClure do we?

Meet Chunk…

I got a new camera:

FZ50

The only thing I’ve figured out is the bowel disruptor setting.

Now I have to take the cat to the vet.

Yo ho ho…

Dang, is it Thursday already?

I guess that means Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is out.

I wasn’t a big fan of the second one, but saw the new one last week and enjoyed it a lot. Reviewed it here.

Other projects (more about that later) have meant I’ve had to keep the film thing to a minimum recently, but I am off to see Ocean’s 13 on Tuesday. Which means I have to watch Ocean’s 12 this weekend. Odd how sometimes I’m way ahead, but with other movies I’m constantly playing catch-up.

Here’s part of Jess’ Pirate booty:

Swag

My advice is to try and see the movie on an afternoon and to sit near children. Watching them cry when characters die is half the fun.
